Wilmington Rotary Club Brochure
The Wilmington Downtown Rotary Club was chartered on April 15, 1915. It was the second club chartered in North Carolina. It was the150th club established in the Rotary World. Naturally, it followed the same objectives of the international organization ,that is an organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Like Rotary clubs everywhere, the Downtown Wilmington Club meets once a week. Club meetings are held on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. at the Coast Line Convention Center along Wilmington's downtown waterfront. 93 Years of Service Above Self Since its founding, the Wilmington Rotary Club has been dedicated to serving the community by engaging in projects that have addressed the needs and wants of others. It's early efforts included highway improvements and development of Greenfield Park (see Rotary Wheel link), support of the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina and helped support new Hospice and Elderhaus facilities. On-going projects include scholarships for students at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College as well as scholarships for the local high school students.
