Tom Avery--the GREAT MAN WITH THE GREAT SMILE Gene Edwards Badge #1 Gene Edwards passed away on January 16, 2006. Gene had been a member of the Wilmington Rotary Club for 68 years. He was inducted on July 21, 1939. with a classification of Flowers-Retailing. Gene served as Rotary District 773 Governor and was the oldest living district governor and the one with the longest year of Rotary service. Gene was a Paul Harris Fellow. He prided himself all during his life on Rotary's motto "Service above Self" Gene was very active in the community and his church, St Paul's Lutheran Church. Gene is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children Betsy and Bill, their spouses, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. We will miss him. |
